Mariposa's annual Butterfly Festival fundraising event, with some new twists. This year's fun will feature a tri-tip dinner, no-host bar and entertainment at the Fairgrounds. Mariposa is ideally suited for those interested in outdoor activities. The second annual Paseo de Mariposa, is a 5k family fun run and 12k Trail Run held within Mariposa County, and for the little ones, a Katterpillar Krawl. The race starts on the grounds of the Mariposa Courthouse, the oldest courthouse (c.1851) west of the Rockies that is still in use.
The Mariposa Piece Maker Quilting group will be showing their quilts from 9 AM to 4 PM. This is a very accomplished group of quiltmakers and you'll not want to miss it. As an added treat, Bed Turning, a display and lecture on heirloom quilts (many from Mariposa area residents) will take place inside the History Center at 10 AM, 12 PM and 2 PM.
Parade Starts at 10am SHARP!!...So line up on the streets of Downtown Mariposa early, (9:30am) to get ready for the Parade! Watch participants of the Parade come down Hwy. 140 through the heart of Mariposa. The Parade ends at approx. 11:30am/12pm . Shortly after the Parade we will start butterfly releases in the main event area off 5th St.
