On the first weekend in May, the Mariposa Butterfly Festival celebrates the Spanish name of our historic Gold Rush town, "mariposa," meaning "butterfly. Check out our new video to learn more!
This year’s festival is now in the history books, and brought with it a more exciting lineup than ever for both kids and adults.
Our parade, shown in these beautiful photos, had something for everyone: a classic car show, Little Miss Butterfly, and creative floats from around the community. For a list of parade winners, click here.
Sincere and heartfelt thanks are owed to our generous sponsors for making this festival possible: Yosemite Mariposa County Tourism Bureau, Insect Lore, Raley's Supermarkets, Sierra Tel, Steve's Sportsmans Cafe, Tioga Sequoia Craft Brewery, and KRYZ Mariposa Community Radio - and all of you, you know who you are - you rock!!! Also to the many volunteers, without whose tireless efforts the festival would not be possible.
BUTTERFLY FESTIVAL WILL RETURN NEXT YEAR, MAY 4th & 5th, 2019. STAY TUNED HERE FOR INFORMATION, APPLICATIONS, AND OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE!!!
